Poppies for Remembrance and Hope.
The bright display of these Perspex poppies will be a vibrant addition to any space, indoors or outdoors. Their strong colours can evoke feelings of remembrance and celebration, making them ideal for memorials, garden, municipal or school displays. Whether clustered together or displayed individually they can create a stunning focal point that draws attention and sparks conversation.
The red poppy became a global symbol of remembrance for all those affected by World War 1. This is largely due to the 1915 poem by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae ‘In Flanders Fields’ The flower’s association with war is tied to its growth in the battle-scarred fields of Flanders. Displaying a red poppy on Remembrance Day is a way to honour and remember the sacrifices of military personnel.
The yellow poppy is often associated with themes of renewal, optimism and new beginnings. Its bright colour symbolizes hope and the promise of brighter days ahead. While it may not have the same historical context as the red poppy, its meanings of hope and renewal resonate strongly in various cultural traditions.
The yellow and blue poppy, is our own design, intended as a contemporary symbol, representing empathy for those affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
Each flower is about 7cm in diameter and made from 3mm thick Perspex which is cut, moulded and then polished. The black centre adds a striking contrast and holds the wire stem.
